Approximately 15 million children in the United States are living in a state of not knowing when they will have their next meal or they are unable to access quality food that is necessary for healthy living. Girl Talk Marlton focuses on the hunger issues close to home; children and families living in Camden need our help. We have partnered with The Unforgotten Haven, an organization that battles hunger and poverty in South Jersey, to supply hundreds of peanut butter & jelly sandwiches to local Camden elementary schools. Teachers and school administrators send children home with these sandwiches, so they have dinner or food for the weekend. Last month, our GTM volunteers made over 475 sandwiches in less than an hour! With a turnout of over 80 volunteers, this was our most successful event to date. The Unforgotten Haven took 300 of the 475 sandwiches. The remaining 175 sandwiches were given to people experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia, along with donated winter clothing.
Girl Talk Marlton plans to host the Peanut Butter Jelly Time event once a month through July. Anyone is welcome to join! You are free to invite family, friends, neighbors, etc. Aside from donating your time to this cause, please consider donating supplies. We are always in need of bread, peanut butter, jelly, disposable knives, plastic bags, gloves, disposable table covers, and snacks for lunches.
